Played Games
Somewhere in my boxes and drawers at home, nestled among lavender sachettes and old phone bills, I have the rules from nearly every game of ARUNO that I've played on notepads, napkins, stickies and even a movie ticket. I wish I could find them. I have always intended to put them on the web someday. Here are a couple games so far.
- Ted, my sister Susan, and I, September 2003
- My EOTL friends around Christmas, 1997
- My aunt, my cousin and I in Washington, 1998
I would love to hear about your own rules. If you send them to me, I'll add them to this site for others to enjoy.
Recurring Rules
Among my friends, a few rules seem to come up often enough that we know them by name. If short on time, we sometimes begin a game with several of these rules to speed things up.
- The Gift: When someone plays a card, and you hold an identical match to that card hidden in your hand, you may "gift" that someone with your matching card out of turn. Toss your match before them face up, the someone must accept your gift as a face up card. "Oh, you like that card? Here, have another."
- Magnetism: You may not ever play a card on its identical match. "If opposites attract, then...?"
- Karma: You may play an opponents face up card as if it were in your hand. This rule does not force you to play one of your opponents cards, even if you have no other playable cards. "Share and share alike."
- Cumulative Draws: When hit by a Draw card, if you have a Draw card that is otherwise playable, you may play your Draw card instead of drawing the penalty cards. The penalty cards you were to draw plus those from your own Draw card get passed to the next player, who has the same option, and so on. "Not me, not me!"
